Clear Top Coat
Hey guys! Today I am reviewing the new MUA Nail Varnishes which are dupes of the Essie brand which Beauty Bloggers everywhere lust over. I chose to try Pistachio Ice Cream, Moody Mink & their clear top coat. I actually bought Pistachio Ice Cream about a week before the other two and it's featured in my outfit post A Pretty Piece of Flesh. I was so happy with the quality of these new varnishes that I wanted to try more but as I wasn't 100% of their chip rate, didn't want to go mad (plus the available shades at my superdrug are pretty limited)
Firstly the colours of these varnishes are lovely. I can't wait to get my hands on Koala Bear, Amaretto Crush & maybe their Fever Red as well. They have some great shades, some are really similar to each other but mostly theres a good variety. They also look very pretty on my dresser in their new Essie style packaging which is always a bonus. I normally find that MUA packaging is cheap and a bit tacky and if identically copying another brand is what it takes, then fine with me. (I know a lot of people hate just how much MUA copy other brands but personally I prefer this to the clunky cheap packaging they had before).

Application wise the brush is a lot better. As you can see the first coat is still a little thin and the brush does drag sightly but with lots of product the brush doesn't case the scratching which a lot of bloggers have complained about; You've just got to be careful! The second coat goes on fine, again just be careful with the brush, and the colours are super rich and yummy. At first I tried these with a matte top coat but since buying more of the varnishes, including the shiny clear top coat, I've tried that too. The top coat is your basic top coat, shiny and the varnish didn't chip for several days (2/3 if I remember correctly) which is okay going.
Basically I think for the price these are super products. You shouldn't expect the same level of quality that you get from higher end brands or even average drug store brands from a £1 product and if you're starting out, want a cheap way to expand your polish collection or just a varnish junkie then these are great. I plan to buy more when I see the shades I like :)
